- Now…pray and ask Holy Spirit to highlight something from this post and to teach you. (Perhaps he already highlighted something as you were reading!). Close your eyes and be silent before him for a minute or two...or more. Breathe in Holy Spirit. (Yes, actually inhale.) Listen. Open your eyes and peruse the post. What does your eye see or your ear hear? Write it in your journal.
- Why does it seem important? You could even ask: Father/Jesus/Holy Spirit, why have you brought this to my attention? Write the answer in your journal. (The answer may be a question…an I wonder. Allow Holy Spirit to direct your thoughts.)
- Make it a prayer. Pray the scripture (and it’s insights, questions, or comments) back to the Father. Write this in your journal.
- How are you going to be different after this experience with God? What does he want you to be or do as a result? If you are not sure, ask him. Write this in your journal.
A Revealer
#14 in the Series: My Daddy
Is…
Not long ago, I experienced a situation where a person would not
disclose the reasons behind their actions. Their actions were hurtful and
seemed irrational
to me, but what was just as hurtful was that they would not
explain what caused them take those actions. It was frustrating and very, very
sad. It created a rift in the
relationship and although I have done everything in my power to mend the
relationship through forgiveness and dialog, the mystery remains and the
relationship is strained.
I am so glad God is not like that. He wants to reveal things to us. He is just waiting to open doors to show us
great and mighty things. As we seek
more and more intimate relationship with him, he throws open wide the doors to
wisdom, knowledge, and the deep mysteries of life…and even the mysteries of
himself!
“He who forms the mountains,
who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn
to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God Almighty is
his name.”
Amos 4:13 NIV
“'Therefore I told you these
things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you
could not say, ‘My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god
ordained them.’ You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit
them? From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to
you.'”
Isaiah 48:5-6 NIV
“No, we declare God’s wisdom, a
mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time
began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they
would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What
no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has
conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the
things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things,
even the deep things of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:7-10
NIV
“If any of you lacks wisdom,
you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it
will be given to you.”
James 1:5 NIV
“‘Call to me and I will answer
you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”
Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
I
look forward to this journey with you!
