Final Thoughts:
Read What You Write
#50 in the Series: Daddy, It's
Me--Conversations of an Ordinary Person with an Extraordinary Heavenly Father
It has been over six
months since we set out on this journey.
I thought there were going to be about seven articles. That has become fifty…
actually fifty-one if
we count the intro…and I feel like I have barely licked the tip of the
iceberg! I am not dropping the blog, but
we are going to be changing gears a bit.
It is still about freedom for your mustang heart, but we are going to
look at it from a few different angles in the coming days and months. What you have learned in these first months
about hearing from God, will make the next ones more effective if you read with
the idea of hearing Him speak through His Word or through the concepts He has
had me share with you. (If He can speak
through a donkey (Numbers 22:2-41), He can use my fingers to share His words
too.)
Having allayed your
fears about the blog disappearing, I want to give you more encouragement to
journal. There are reasons behind the
commands.
“Go now, write it on a tablet
for them, inscribe it on a scroll, that for the days to come it may be an everlasting
witness.”
Isaiah 30:8 NIV
Your
journal will become a witness to your journey.
It will testify about where you started, what you have come through and
where you are. It may even hint as to
where you are going.
“Then the Lord replied: “Write
down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”
Habakkuk 2:2 NIV
Your
journal may become the means by which other people will hear or read about the
revelations of God.
“At the Lord’s direction, Moses kept a written record of
their progress. These are the stages of
their march, identified by the different places where they stopped along the
way.”
Numbers 33:2 NLT
Your
journal may include a travel log of where you have been physically as well as
spiritually.
“Then the Lord said to Moses,
“Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of
Amalek from under heaven.””
Exodus 17:14 NIV
Somethings
need to be remembered and passed on to others!
We as humans, especially as we get older, don’t remember things very
well. Having things written down surely
makes things more efficient and accurate.
“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate
on all your mighty deeds.””
Psalm 77:11-12 NIV
There is
nothing like a daily record that is reread from time to time to remind us of
the deeds, the miracles, and the works and the mighty wonders of the Lord!
“Let this be written for a
future generation, that
a people not yet created may praise the Lord:”
Psalm 102:18 NIV
What a
wonderful idea to think that your journals could be passed down to your
children or grandchildren or their children…and that they would come to praise
the Lord as a result.
So
decide what kind of journal you are going to keep and just do it…and don’t
forget to go back and read former entries occasionally.
“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate
on all your mighty deeds.””
Psalm 77:11-12 NIV
Onward
to freedom for your mustang heart!
