Creator
#3 in the Series: My Daddy Is…
There is no better place to begin than the beginning!
Having said that I know I am opening a can of worms because
many people,
even Christians do not believe the biblical account of creation. Nevertheless, let me make a few statements
that may open your mind, just a little, to consider the possibility.
In my rambles
through life, I was a science teacher for seven years. In that process I studied and taught the
THEORY of Evolution and the THEORY of Creation.
Notice that neither is called a LAW of science. Science by definition is: “knowledge or a
system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws
especially as obtained and tested through scientific method.”
(Merriam-Webster). The scientific methods requires that something be
observable, measurable, and repeatable…none of which are possible when it comes
to the subject of the origins of life.
In fact, it is mathematically impossible for life to have come about by
chance. It is easier (for me, at least)
to believe in a Supreme Being that is beyond our understanding and outside our
realm of measurement, than to accept the idea of chance creating the beauty and
order and complexity we observe in the universe. In either case, both creation and evolution
must be accepted by faith—belief in the unseeable!
So here we go:
“In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 NIV
“This is the account of the
heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth
and the heavens. Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had
yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no
one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the
whole surface of the ground. Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of
the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man
became a living being.”
Genesis 2:4-7 NIV
“For in him all things were
created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him
and for him.”
Colossians 1:16 NIV
“But God made the earth by his
power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his
understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes
clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and
brings out the wind from his storehouses.”
Jeremiah 10:12-13 NIV
““This is what the Lord says—
the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you
question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It
is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out
the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.”
Isaiah 45:11-12 NIV
““Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have
made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm.
Nothing is too hard for you.”
Jeremiah 32:17 NIV
“Give thanks to the Lord of
lords:
His love endures forever.
To him who alone does great
wonders,
His love endures forever.
Who by his understanding made
the heavens,
His love endures forever.
Who spread out the earth upon
the waters,
His love endures forever.
Who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
The sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
The moon and stars to govern the
night;
His love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:3-9 NIV
“For you created my inmost
being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full
well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when
I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed
body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them
came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of
them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I
awake, I am still with you.”
Psalm 139:13-18 NIV
Now pray and ask
Holy Spirit to highlight something from this post. (Perhaps he already did as you were
reading!). Be silent before him for a minute or two...or more. Listen.
Open your eyes and peruse the post.
What does your eye see or your ear hear?
Write it in your journal.
Why does it seem
important? You could even ask: Father/Jesus/Holy Spirit, why have you
brought this to my attention? Write the
answer in your journal.
Make it a
prayer. Pray the scripture (and it’s
insights, questions, or comments) back to the Father. Write this in your journal.
How are you going to
be different after this experience with God?
What does he want you to be or do as a result? If you are not sure, ask him. Write this in your journal.
I look forward to
this journey with you! Onward to freedom
for your mustang heart!

My prayer—(Isaiah 45:11-12). Father God, Holy One of Israel, My Creator! Forgive me when I question you about my life. May I never presume to give you orders! Help me to see life for your perspective, far above even the starry host. Thank you for the LIFE you have created in me. Abundant, fascinating, fulfilling, adventure filled LIFE in you!
