- Now…pray and ask Holy Spirit to highlight something from this post and to teach you. (Perhaps he already highlighted something as you were reading!). Close your eyes and be silent before him for a minute or two...or more. Breathe in Holy Spirit. (Yes, actually inhale.) Listen. Open your eyes and peruse the post. What does your eye see or your ear hear? Write it in your journal.
- Why does it seem important? You could even ask: Father/Jesus/Holy Spirit, why have you brought this to my attention? Write the answer in your journal. (The answer may be a question…an I wonder. Allow Holy Spirit to direct your thoughts.)
- Make it a prayer. Pray the scripture (and it’s insights, questions, or comments) back to the Father. Write this in your journal.
- How are you going to be different after this experience with God? What does he want you to be or do as a result? If you are not sure, ask him. Write this in your journal.
A Loving Father
#4 in the Series: My Daddy Is…
Holy Spirit,
Revealer of Truth, so many people have been hurt by their earthly fathers and
have a warped view of the Heavenly Father.
Open their eyes and their hearts to see the Truth about their Heavenly
Father who is all their earthly father was not. In every way that their earthly father fell
short, Heavenly Father exceeds expectations and “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20

Daddy. Dad. Papa.
Abba. Poppy. Pop pops.
These are names of endearment that we
give our fathers. Names that reflect the love we have for them
and the love we sense from them. My
granddaughter, who is 3 years old at this writing, calls her father Da-da and
it is with the utmost love a three year old can give. Her father loves her and indulges her every
whim…but which came first? His love, of
course. In the same way, “God demonstrates his own love for us
in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV) And just as a three year old has little
concept of real love, but loves in that limited capacity, so we have little
concept of the Heavenly Father’s love for us.
In fact, it is beyond understanding...yet, we can still experience
it! “That you may come, “to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].”
EPHESIANS 3:19 AMP
May you
also experience God’s love and presence even though you cannot understand
it! May you see him as your Daddy.
