Have you ever had the feeling that everything in your life has been building up to a particular moment or event!

I began searching for that kind of meaning in the 1990’s.  It seemed I was often frustrated, hurt by others, fearful in my interactions and generally unhappy.  I would pray with many tears but seemed to not get any answers about what I was supposed to DO with my life.  In the early 2000’s

I began to hear an interesting word:  BE.  It was often connected to the idea of “don’t worry about what you are supposed to DO, learn to BE.”  At first this was very confusing and frustrating; it has taken almost 20 years for me to begin to figure it out.  One way to explain it is that what we DO in life must be an outgrowth of who we ARE.  And we need to know who that is.  I did not.  I had so many masks, so many walls, that even I could not access my genuine self, much less let others into that sanctum.

Now, looking back, I can see by noting the talents and passions I had as a child and seeing them crop up throughout my life, that God has had a plan all along...And he has been working it out in spite of me.  He has been preparing me with every challenge and victory that has come my way.  The devil has worked diligently to kill my dreams, steal my identity, and destroy my hope, but God has taken every one of those attacks and turned it into something good...preparation for my ultimate destiny!  My dreams are being re-ignited, my identity is being uncovered, my hope is being restored and fear is being defeated.

Lately, I have had the distinct impression that it is time to start DO-ing…There is a dream, an idea burning in me that perhaps what I’ve been through and the things I am still learning could help others:

               Remember and re-ignite their dreams;

               Uncover their true identity;

               Restore their hope and…

   Defeat fear.

              

This does not mean that the rest of my life (or yours) will be a lush pasture of leisure…In fact I don’t doubt the devil will redouble his efforts.  But…now I know how to respond so that the trial does not affect my soul and spirit in negative ways like it used to.
