One Way Sharpness

When I told Dave I was going to remove the stumps and buried branches in the pasture, he gave me what he called a limb saw.  Grateful for a small version of the tool, I eagerly trudged to the area near the feed tubs where the woody offenders were prolific.

First I dug a space down and around the root. Then I attempted to saw it off below ground level.  Although the size of the saw allowed me to get in a good position, the cutting was incredibly slow because the saw did not bite into the wood when I push it forward.  After considerable consternation (Why isn't this new saw sawing?!!) and some experimentation I discovered that it only cut when I drew the blade toward me instead of pushing it away or both directions like other saws I was familiar with.  It was only sharp one way!  I'm guessing this is the case with limb saws because in most situations where you are cutting a limb, it is high and pulling would be easier if you were working over your head.

It reminded me of something else that is sharp in many ways:

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."  Hebrews 4:12 ESV

God's word because it is a Living Word, cuts through all the clutter in our lives and gets to the point (pun intended).

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."  2 Timothy 3:16  ESV

Another way to say it:  "Every Scripture has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness."  2 Timothy 3:16 TPT

When it feels like life is a struggle and  you wish for something to cut through the junk, the answer is in scripture.  All you have to do is find it...and obey it!

"If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
And if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs: 2:3-5 NIV

Welcome to the treasure hunt!
